Wisconsin Police hunt Democratic Senator; Tyranny at its finest.

In MILITARY, Police Action on 02/18/2011 at 1:37 PM

A perfect example of oppression and tyranny is to threaten private citizens with military force if they voice their opposition to government.

A perfect example of un-Contitutional and un-American measure is when it happens here in the States.

A perfect example of both is taking place right now in Wisconsin.

Shortly after Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker threatened to use military against his own citizens if they protested his bill (tyranny, anyone?) – House Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald R. of Juneau beckoned state troopers to visit the home of Democratic Senator Mark Miller….

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin State Patrol was dispatched Friday to find a Democratic state senator who fled the Capitol to delay the near-certain passage of a bill to end a half-century of collective bargaining rights for public workers, a measure that’s attracted thousands of protesters for four days.

With Democrats saying they won’t return before Saturday, it was unclear when the Senate would be able to begin debating Gov. Scott Walker’s measure meant to ease the state’s budget woes. Democrats who disappeared Thursday at first kept their whereabouts secret, then started to emerge to give interviews and fan the protests.

The Wisconsin Constitution prohibits police from arresting state lawmakers while the Legislature is in session, except in cases of felonies, breaches of the peace or treason. Fitzgerald said he’s not looking to have Miller arrested, but he wants to send a signal about how serious things are becoming in the Capitol.

Fitzgerald said he spoke with Miller by phone late Thursday night and asked him to bring his caucus back to Madison for a vote on Friday morning, but Miller refused. Meanwhile, the protests are growing so large that Capitol workers and lawmakers’ staff cannot safely move through the halls, he said.

The situation has become “a powder keg,” he said.

“I’m starting to hold Sen. Miller responsible for this,” Fitzgerald said. “He shut down democracy.”

No, Fitzgerald – this IS democracy. The will of the people is NOT in compliance with the elected official and the people WILL be heard. That is democracy in its barest essence!

Times, They are DEFINITELY A-Changin’!….

Jubilant crowds flood Cairo, escalating protests

CAIRO – More than a quarter-million people flooded Cairo’s main square Tuesday in a stunning and jubilant array of young and old, urban poor and middle class professionals, mounting by far the largest protest yet in a week of unrelenting demands for President Hosni Mubarak to leave after nearly 30 years in power.

The crowds — determined but peaceful — filled Tahrir, or Liberation, Square and spilled into nearby streets, among them people defying a government transportation shutdown to make their way from rural provinces. Protesters jammed in shoulder-to-shoulder, with schoolteachers, farmers, unemployed university graduates, women in conservative headscarves and women in high heels, men in suits and working-class men in scuffed shoes.

They sang nationalist songs, danced, beat drums and chanted the anti-Mubarak slogan “Leave! Leave! Leave!” as military helicopters buzzed overhead. Organizers said the aim was to intensify marches to get the president out of power by Friday, and similar demonstrations erupted in at least five other cities around Egypt.

Soldiers at checkpoints set up the entrances of the square did nothing to stop the crowds from entering.

See. in a REAL democracy, when people peacefully protest for the removal of a public official- that person needs to leave office,

Breaking with her father, Barbara Bush voices support for gay marriage

By Holly Bailey

“I’m Barbara Bush, and I’m a New Yorker for marriage equality,” she says in a 22-second video released Monday by the Human Rights Campaign, a group that lobbies for equal treatment for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders.

“New York is about fairness and equality,” she says in the video. “And everyone should have the right to marry the person that they love.”

Last May, her mother, former First Lady Laura Bush, told CNN’s Larry King gay marriage “is coming.” “When couples are committed to each other and love each other, they ought to have… the same sort of rights that everyone has,” she said.

Meghan McCain, daughter of Sen. John McCain, has been an outspoken supporter of gay rights, breaking with her father on the issue.

Mary Cheney, the openly gay daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has voiced support for same-sex marriage and has been credited with pushing her father to do the same.
